Alonia - SIP Telephony Settings

Alonia on mobiles, VoIP and other SIP equipment

Alonia Phone service is based on VoIP technology and uses the SIP protocol, the most common VoIP protocol worldwide.

Today you can use Alonia services on most VoIP equipment - VoIP phones or adapters. You can also use most SIP software phone applications, both on your PC and your mobile phone.

Basically any equipment or software, that meets the specifications for implementing SIP, works with Alonia Phone, if your Internet connection allows it. For any details about the necessary adjustments or for recommendations of compatible equipment and software, contact us at help@alonia.ro.

Below are some examples of SIP settings for different equipment or applications:

Alonia PC Phone behaves very well on phones that use Symbian or smart phones with different operating systems, provided that they have good quality Internet connection (3G or Wireless).

I. The application included by default in Symbian

If you choose to use existing VoIP application on your mobile phone, the setting is as follows:

1. Activate the data connection 3G or wireless. Check with your phone's browser settings. It must be able to load a web page when using that connection.

2. Menu -> Settings -> Connection -> SIP Settings -> Options -> New SIP profile -> Use default profile

3. Profile Name - Alonia
Service profile - IETF
Default access point - 3G or WiFi connection
Public user name - sip: 403xxxxxxxx@85.204.232.10 (where 403xxxxxxxx is your Alonia phone number)
Use compression – NO
Register - Activated always
Use safety – NO
Proxy server - not set
Server Registration - Registrar server address - sip: 85.204.232.10
Domain - 85.204.232.10
Username: 403xxxxxxxx (your phone number Alonia - displayed in the application)
Password – Alonia account password
Allow free routing - YES
Transport type - Auto
Port - 5060

4. Menu -> Settings -> Connection -> Internet Phone -> New profile (to create a profile or edit the existing one):
Name: Default
SIP profiles: select the SIP profile Alonia
If everything was correctly set ALONIA profile must appear as REGISTRED

5. Enter the number you want to call (in the form 407xxx for mobile Romania or 4021xxx for fixed Romtelecom. From the international number format cut “00”, for Italy we will have 39xxxx, etc..)
Options -> Call -> Internet call

6. You can use the phone book entries and enter the 407xxx number in the "Internet phone" field. When you call it will automatically connect to the data network.

7. Note, if after the call the data connection does not close, the battery is discharged within hours. The data connection is closed by pressing the button with red phone.
 

II. Alternative application, eg. Nimbuzz, Fring

If you choose to use another application than the existing SIP VoIP on your mobile phone, the setting is done as follows (the example is given for the same application used Nokia E51 with Nimbuzz):

1. Activate the data connection or 3G wireless. Check with your phone's browser settings. It must be able to load a web page when the connection it used.

2. Nimbuzz application is installed on your phone browser http://www.nimbuzz.com  download section,

3. An account is registred on your PC or directly from the telephone

4. Start the application on the mobile (Set username and password allocated in Nimbuzz and Sign in)

5. In Options -> Settings -> SIP Accounts -> Other  settings are as follows:

For Windows Mobile
username: 403xxxxxxxx, where 403xxxxxxxx is the number displayed below the application bar Alonia

For Simbyan
username: 403xxxxxxxx@psip.alonia.ro, where 403xxxxxxxx is the number displayed below in the application bar Alonia
 

If you want to use Alonia as a regular landline service, you can purchase a VoIP SIP telephone that you can configure to work with telephone service Alonia. The example below describes the settings for a Cisco 7912 VoIP fixed telephone, a quite expensive phone, but there are many affordable SIP VoIP phones on the market that you can configure.

1. The following settings should be made:

PROFILE
Profile name - Alonia
ACCOUNT
User - 4037374xxxx
Password - password Alonia
Internal server - blank
External server - 85.204.232.10
Stun server - 85.204.232.6
ADVANCED
DTMF method- Inband
Enable NAT - check
Enable ICE - check

2. Enter the number you want to call (in the form 407xxx for mobile Romania or 4021xxx if fixed Romtelecom. From the international format cut number 00, for Italy we will have 39xxxx, etc.).
 

If you want to use Alonia as a regular landline service, you can purchase an adapter (gateway) VoIP SIP that you can configure to work with Alonia phone service and that you can connect any regular fixed telephone.

The example below describes the settings for VoIP ATA 2000 adapter

Settings are made as follows:
After the settings are made the "Reg" LED on the device should remain on.
Enter the number you want to call the form 407xxx for mobile Romania or 4021xxx for fixed Romtelecom. From the international format cut "00". For Italy we will have 39xxxx etc.
As an alternative to Alonia application you can use X-Lite phone services, a PC application available for Linux or MacOS / Windows (X-Lite 2.0 respectively 3.0) operating systems
